Howell Abduction-Force Research Test Device.

$17,000.00

Howell Abduction-Force Research Test Device — precisely validates, demonstrates & calibrates Howell Ski Bindings.

6-foot by 6-foot by 2-inch aluminum-alloy test-frame.  All frame components are to be assembled by purchaser using the supplied stainless-steel brackets and stainless steel bolts that are supplied.  All assembly holes are pre-drilled. Cloth tape is provided to mitigate galvanic corrosion between the aluminum-alloy frame and the stainless steel brackets.

High-strength applied-force sailing-line, plus two 3-to-1 ratio yacht-racing blocks (pulleys).

Applied-abduction-force transducer:  test-range:  1 to 350-pounds, with mechanical over-load limiter.

Electronic signal-conditioning (with automatic temperature balancing) and digital peak-load display, not shown.

Applied-abduction-force ski-clamp-hardware.

Released-ski preventer-hardware & rigging (requires minimum 18-foot ceiling), not shown.

Stainless-steel boot-holding fixture and rigging (rigidly fixes any ski-boot — alpine, AT, telemark).

6 traceable, certified, 25-pound calibration weights (each shipped separately).

Biomechanical ACL & MCL rupture threshold reference grid.

Does not include skis, boots, or bindings.

8 wooden shipping crates:  1 electronics;  6 calibration weights;  1 the balance, including electronics.  The create containing the electronics has the goods wrapped in plastic to mitigate water-damage.

☄️ Special note to scientists currently practicing ‘normal science’ pertaining to skiing-ACL, MCL, meniscus research.

Independent-validation of the biomechanics behind Howell Ski Bindings may be useful for those who seek to reach beyond ‘normal science’ — to explore the interrelationship between ski-binding function and surrogate ACL, MCL, meniscus and tibia integrity.

‘Normal science’ in ski-binding biomechanical research only measures tibia-biomechanics — resultant torsional-tibia-torques and resultant forward-bending tibial-moments arising from abduction-force applied to the front-third and rear-third of a ski.

Ski-binding related biomechanical research that reaches beyond ‘normal science’ to investigate ACL, MCL, meniscus, and tibia biomechanics — exceptional science — includes the additional measurement of (1) the magnitude of the applied-abduction-force, and (2) the location of the applied-abduction force at all positions along the full-length of a ski — especially in the middle-third of the ski.  This special research test device reaches beyond normal science to provide the exploration of exceptional / extraordinary science to unlock solutions to the skiing ACL, MCL, meniscus, tibia-shaft and tibial-plateau injury problems.

To pre-order Howell Ski Bindings with an $80 reservation-deposit:

Howell Venus   DIN 3-8   For smooth recreational female skiers.  Extra ACL, MCL, meniscus, tibia - integrity - expressly for women.  4-modes of release.  Additional lateral-heel release.  Additional vertical-toe release.  Excellent edge control.  Easy step-in even in deep powder with short boot soles.  Lite.

Howell Mars   DIN 4-10   For strong, smooth recreational skiers.  ACL, MCL, meniscus, tibia - integrity.  Anti-pre-release.  Powerful edge-control.  Low stand-height.  Decisive balance of release and anti-pre-release.

Howell Planet-B   DIN 8-22   Only for strong adult racers and extreme skiers.  High strength aluminum alloy housings.  Super-wide 8-point boot-contact for ultra max edge control.  Wide off-center release-pivots provide max anti-pre-release.  Low 21.5mm standheight allows race-plates conforming to FIS standheight regulations (race plates not included).  Floating Mounting System mitigates binding pull-out’s from skis.  1, 2, 3 - degree cant kit, including longer mounting screws for the cants.  Adjustable toe-height for solid boot interface.  CAUTION:  PLANET-B IS FOR EXTREME SKIERS & RACERS ONLY.
